ALEX FULCHER OAM MBE (President)
Alex Fulcher MBE was the cycling delegate to CGA NSW Division from 1984 to 2000, the Division’s Vice President from 2000 to 2013, and the current President since June 2013. In 2011, Life Membership was conferred upon Alex Fulcher for outstanding service to the Division and to the Commonwealth Games movement.
His significant and distinguished service to cycling includes Road & Track Coach, Chair & Selector (Cycling NSW – 16 yrs; Cycling Aust – 16 yrs including World Champs, Olympic & Commonwealth Games, Oceania Champs); President CNSW – 17 yrs; Vice President CA – 17 yrs; and Vice Chair CA Coaching Commission – 16 yrs.
Specific roles have included Competition Director of World Track Cycling Cups, 5 x Olympic Youth Games, 3 x World Masters Track Champs; Training Coordinator of the Road & Track & Paraplegic Cycling Team at 2000 Sydney Olympic Games; Delegate on NSW Olympic Council (16 yrs); Patron of Bankstown Cycling Club; and Board Member of Bankstown Sports Club.
Alex has personally coached 2 x World Champions and cyclists who have won over 60 NSW Championships and 40 Australian Championships.
For outstanding service to cycling, Alex has been awarded Order of Merit by Cycling Australia; Order of Merit by CNSW; and Volunteer Award from World Body UCI. For outstanding service to sport in general, Alex has also been awarded Order of Merit by NSW Olympic Council; the distinguished Member British Empire (MBE) in 1982; and the Order of Australia Medal in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
He is a Life Member of both Cycling NSW and Cycling Australia, and a much deserved Life Member of CGA NSW Division.
MICHAEL O’MARA (Vice President)
Michael O’Mara was elected as the Executive Member on the CGA NSW Division Executive Committee in May 2010, after serving numerous years as the athletics delegate. His expertise was immediately evident, given his experience gained in the sport of athletics and his professional background in business and finance. Michael has a Bachelor of Business degree (Charles Sturt University) with a major in accounting.
As well as being an active and regular competitor in Masters Athletics, Michael has given tremendous voluntary service to the sport over many years. In 1996 he was the Ticketing Manager at the World Junior Championships, and four years later he was part of the Press Operations Team (athletics) at the Sydney Olympic Games and worked in the Technical Information Centre (athletics) at the Paralympic Games.
Michael’s roles and contribution with Athletics NSW have been extensive. He is a former Chairperson of the Competition Advisory Panel and Sydney Corporate Cup, and is the Honorary Constitution Officer. He continues as an active Director of Athletics NSW and was bestowed with Life Membership of that SSO in 2013.
Furthermore, Michael is a qualified and accredited Athletics Australia Technical Official, and was honoured with Life Membership of the Bankstown Sports Senior Athletics Club. The knowledge and skill brought to the organisation by Michael is extremely beneficial to the CGA NSW Division.
DONALD BROWN (Executive Member)
Don Brown was appointed Executive Member of the CGA NSW Division in June 2013 having been the wrestling delegate to the Division ever since 1992.
Don’s passion and prowess lie in coaching and refereeing the sport of wrestling. He has been the Wrestling Coach at Lake Illawarra PCYC since 1976 and was President there from 1992 to 1999. He is PCYC Life Governor of Lake Illawarra PCYC and also NSW PCYC (2000).
In 1981 Don gained accreditation as a FILA International wrestling referee. Since then he has refereed at 14 world championships, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and four Commonwealth Games (1982, 1986, 1994, 2002).
With the NSW Wrestling Association, Don was Secretary from 1992 to 1999, and has been President since 2008. He was awarded Life Membership in 1994. Don received the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and is a recipient of the FILA Silver Star for services to wrestling.
Don’s fresh and enthusiastic approach is greatly appreciated by the CGA NSW Division.
PETER TATE (Chief Executive Officer)
Peter Tate has been contributing to the Division since 2006 as a delegate and member of the Executive, and was appointed CEO in 2011.
